Kshitija Bhamre’s work treads on a path that is both critical and personal at the same time. The figures in her installation are metaphorical personification of her physical transformation
and mental fears. Her fear for four-legged creatures gets an interesting manifestation in her sculptural forms that also assimilates her bodily changes. The deficiency in melanin in her skin transforms her skin into ‘white’, changing her appearance to some extent. This journey of the physical change gets manifested in some interesting hybrid creatures that inhabit psychological fear and social anxiety. The ‘white’ figures bear marks that she has on my body personifying the constantly changing bodily appearance and its impact on her identity.
